In the morning we will pick you up from respective hotels in our transport and head out to the sector of Santa Teresa, crossing the Sacred Valley, then climbing to the highest point on the drive known as Abra de Malaga, located at 4350 meters above sea level. We then descend into what is known as high jungle area where the climate is much warmer and down to an altitude of 1430 meters. Along the way, we will stop to visit Inca Tambo, an archeological complex of Huaman Marca that supports stone constructions known to the Inca culture. We continue on this beautiful trip seeing agricultural areas mostly of a variety of fruit trees including oranges, mandarin, lima, banana, pineapple, papaya, and much more. This area also has a heavy production of coffee, cocoa, yucca, avocado to name a few. After passing Santa Maria we take the route to the left, taking us to Santa Teresa where the first night will be spent in hostels.
DAY 2.- SANTA TERESA – LLAQTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES (B) (L)
After an early breakfast, we transport to Lucmabamba (2100 m) where we will start hiking on the Inca Trail in ascending form to the top of Llaqtapata (about 3 hours). We will have a break as we visit the archeological complex of Llaqtapata. Along the way we can see a view of Machu Picchu! As we continue on foot, we will head to Aobamba where we cross the Aobamba River to Hidroelectrica, seeing a variety of flora and fauna along the way, as well as Incan terraces and constructions of times past. Finally, we arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes (2000 m) where we check-in to respective hotels.
There is the option to check out the hot springs on the edge of town.
DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES-MACHUPICCHU-CUSCO (B)
After breakfast provided in the hotel, we will walk together to the bus station and take about a 30 minute ride up the mountain to the Machu Picchu entrance (2400 m). We will have the opportunity to see the sunrise over the citadel, and take advantage of few other tourists around at this time. The guided tour includes visits through the famous ruins stopping at some of the major points of interest such as the plaza mayor, Circular Tower, Solar Sun Dial, living quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries.
