Trek Inka Jungle a Machupicchu 4D3/N

DAY 1.- CUSCO – ABRA DE MALAGA – SANTA MARIA  (L) (D)

Passengers are picked up in the morning from respective hotels in our transport and we head out to the area of Santa Maria, travelling through the Sacred Valley and towns like Ollantytambo, arriving to the highest point known as Abra de Malaga located at 4350 meters above sea level and 150 Km from Cusco city.  We can enjoy an ascent of picturesque views of the Sacred Valley, and the opportunity to see the some-times snow-capped mountain as we descend directly to the high jungle of 1430 meters above sea level where the climate is warm and the area full of fruit-trees and lots of vegetation.  From the sector known as San Luis we start a descent on bicycle (the majority of the way is down-hill), passing communities of Alfamayo, Huamanmarca (an Incan archeological complex), Amaybamba, Huyro, Huayopata, Cocalpampa until Santa Maria where we get checked-in to our hostel for the first night.

DAY 2.- SANTA  MARIA – SANTA TERESA (B) (L) (D)

After breakfast we start our trek in an area full of vegetation both up-hill and down-hill and where we can see many varieties of plants and trees like coffee, cocoa, banana, avocado, orange, mandarin, etc.  We can also see the work process of obtaining organic coffee in Quillabamba, and enjoy this warm climate in an unforgettable area of this trek that is jungle-like, full of green nature, fruit trees, pretty mountains, rivers, valleys and exotic animals and birds of the region, one of them being the Gallito de Las Rocas (a jungle Bird of the Rocks).  We finally arrive to Santa Teresa (1900 meters) where we will have our dinner, check-in to our hostel, and later have the option to visit the Hotsprings of Cocalmayo.

DAY 3.- SANTA TERESA – HIDRO – AGUAS CALIENTES (B) (L)

We will spend a little bit of time in Santa Teresa town after breakfast, and then will move on to Hidroeléctrica, where we will have lunch and a deserved rest.  We then continue on our way to Aguas Calientes Town, a route with many flower varieties, high jungle fauna and furthermore, Incan terraces.  Arriving to Aguas Calientes town (located at 2000 m) we will be checked-in to our respective hotels with more time to rest.  There are also optional hot springs 10 minutes from the main plaza.

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES-MACHUPICCHU-CUSCO (B)

After breakfast provided in hotel, we will walk to the bus station and take the 30 minute bus ride to the entrance of the Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu (2400 m), enjoying the sunrise and the lack of many other tourists at this time.  We have a guided tour of the Citadel visiting point of interest like the plazas, Circular Tower, Solar Sun Dial, living quarters, Temple of the Three Windows and cemeteries.  Afterwards there is free time to explore and take more photos.  We then take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes and then catch the return train to Cusco.

Note:  There is option to hike Waynapicchu Mountain if it is booked in advance.

Discounts:

1. Students: Those who have the ISIC card valid, in the event that you book under a student rate with this benefit, you will need to bring the original card (not a copy) to show it at the control points throughout the route.
2. Children: Between 7 and 16 years (at the start of the Trek) pay the student rate, however they must show a copy of their passports.
3. Children under 6 years: They have a 30% discount.

This is a 3 star hotel and is based on sharing a room – either double, matrimonial or triple. There is a single room surcharge if you are booking alone of $30 US per person. Rooms all include private bathrooms with hot showers and wifi. We can also upgrade your hotel if you prefer something a little fancier. Please remember that the service you receive in Aguas Calientes will not be quite as good as Cusco. Below is a list of possible upgrade options, but we can work with most hotels in Aguas Calientes.
