Day 2: Sacred Valley Tour (B) (L)

After breakfast at hotel in the morning we will collect from the hotel and then begin the tour.

Places to visit:

Pisaq Market. Located about 35 kilometers from Cusco city, we first stop at the Pisac Market, one of the oldest and impressive markets in the area.  It was once a place for the Inca people to interchange products including textiles, ceramics, and jewelry and is still a place offering these same handcrafted items as well as paintings

Pisaq Ruins. This was a fortified city on the way toward the Antisuyo or Amazon jungle that according to many historians was established there to protect the great capital of possible enemy attacks.  Nowadays you can see the walls that protected this place, in addition to viewing many agricultural terraces that were used to produce food for the Quechuas, some of the houses, and remains of aqueducts and fountains that served to supply the whole area.

Moray: Belonging to the classic Incan period, these giant circular terraces that make up the site of Moray resemble a soccer stadium, only without the seats. According to one traditional theory, Moray may have been a series of amphitheaters with a capacity for 70,000 people, which could have served to train young Incas and for hosting social or religious festivities since from the base of the lower platform to the last platform at the top voices can be heard very clearly throughout this site.  A more modern theory believes that Moray was built of an agricultural nature because of the shape and position of the terraces, the existence of water channels and the existance of different micro-climates.

Ollantaytambo. This word is composed from the Quechua language, Ollanta which is a person’s name, and Tambo (or Tanpu) which refers to a city offering lodge, food and commodities for travellers.  According to classic literature, Ollanta was a captain that formed part of the Inca Pachacutec army and was distinguished from others for his courage and great skill.  He had a secret love affair with the King’s daughter, and the story ended well and happy, with a daughter born and given the name Ima Sumaq.

After the tour we will go to the train station where we will catch the train that will take to Aguas Calientes town. The train journey takes about 2 hours and offers nice journey on landscapes combining mountains and jungle. The train descends to 2000 meters in the direction of the Urubamba River. Definitely this is one of the nicest rides. Upon your arrival in Aguas Calientes our representative will meet you at the station and then take you to the hotel you will have a free afternoon option to visit by your own the hot spring.

DAY 3: Machupicchu – Cusco (B)

After breakfast provided in hotel, we walk to the bus station to take the bus up the mountain to the Machu Picchu entrance (about 30 minutes and 400 meters above the Aguas Calientes town). With opportunity to see the sunrise, after checking in with original passports or ID at the government control check-point your guided tour of the citadel then commences, visiting the main plaza, Circular Tower (Torre Circular), Sacred Solar Clock (Sagrado Reloj Solar), the Sacred Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. Later there will be free time to explore more, take photos, also visit the Temple of the Moon or the impressive Inca Bridge, and then catch the bus that heads down to Aguas Calientes town (2000m) and finally board the return train to Ollantaytambo town and transfer to the Hotel in Urubamba.

Day 04: Urubamba/ Temple of Sun Qorikancha / Airport

After breakfast at the hotel we will go to the airport located in Cusco City on the way we will stop at the Temple of Sun;

Q’orikancha Temple of Sun: the temple was known as Intikancha “Palace of the Sun” and was constructed by the Inka Manco Qapac, as a place of sun.  One of the most amazing parts of construction is a stone wall with a 90 degree curve, and an even more surprising find was of an alter with a pure gold plate made to reflect the sunrise.
After visiting this beautiful temple we will transfer to the AIRPORT, End of Services

VERIFICAR DISPONIBILIDAD

Inka Sites Adventures offer daily departures on the Inca Trail (excluding February when the trail is closed).

Since 2000 the Inca trail has been regulated by the country of Peru. This has provided many wonderful things, like clean trails and camping sites, but it has also limited the amount of people on the trail each day. Now only 500 people are permitted on the trail every morning – this includes hikers, guides, porters and cooks. If your date is not available, do not fret, there are many wonderful treks to Machu Picchu – just as beautiful as the Inca trail and not as crowded.
