Full Lares Trek 4D/3N

DAY 1: CUSCO – CALCA / QUISWARANI / CUNCANI (L)(D)

We pick you up from your hotel in the morning, transferring by bus to the Sacred Valley where we can appreciate different archeological remnants from a distance as we enter the town of Calca (2950 meters in altitude).  Here will have a half an hour break to stretch the legs and buy last minute things needed for the trek, then continue on for about 3 hours, passing Macha Cancha hot springs, Incan tombs, archeological remains, and the vegetation that accompanies different Andean microclimates as we advance to the highest point at Wilkipuncu (4400 meters above sea level). We will then descend to Quiswarani village (3850 meters).  Here we start our hike at a slow ascent for about three hours passing Wilkiq’asa (4370m), various Lakes (Queunacocha, Azul Ccocha, Q’omer Ccocha, Wilka Ccocha, etc.), waterfalls, and part of the Andean fauna that includes alpacas and lamas.  We will make camp in Cuncani, located at 3850 meters above sea level.

DAY 2: CUNCANI – IPSAYCCOCHA (B)(L)(D)

This day we get up early to start the ascent (about 2 hours) to our day’s first Pass of Cuncani (4,150 m), appreciating the diverse mountain views.  After a rest, we will see more lakes and villages, along the way passing Natives who still wear typical clothing and maintain their manual work of Andean weavings.  As we arrive to Huacahuasi Valley (3800 m), we will start the ascent until the highest point at Iqsayq’asa (4400 m) and then descend to our campsite, passing different typical birds of the area (Huallata ducks, gulls and eagles), a variety of llamas and alpacas, and small animals like hares.  We will camp beside the Ipsaycocha Lake, the largest of the route, also the coldest campsite (4250 m).

DAY 3: IPSAYCCOCHA – PATACANCHA – PUMAMARKA (B)(L)(C)

After our breakfast, option for fishing in the Ipsaycocha Lake like artisanal fishing using natural rod wood after that, we start in descent of about two hours to the community of Patacancha (3800 m), where we can see some farm activities of the local people then we will have a nice lunch and walking tour around the town that still retains the ancient customs of the Quechua who wear their typical red ponchos and white dress pants made from alpaca wool and sheep. The journey continues down a long valley and we reach the next community Willoq after we are going to descend to a tropical valley to the pre Inca ruins of Puma Marka where we will have our overnight campsite with a view of the mountains surrounding this pre Inca place.

DAY 4: PUMAMARKA – OLLANTAYTAMBO-ÑAUPA IGLESIA (B)(L)

After  breakfast we are going to  continue to  our final descent through Inca terraces and 1000 inca’s steps and a valley full of typical fruits and white corn to get until the Ollantaytambo town located at  (2,700 m), making a brief visit to the town that still retains its streets and its houses of the Incas time and we can clearly  appreciate the Spanish structures built upon the base of Inca walls.  Then, we will make a short walk to Pinkuylluna where we can see construction of two levels that are embedded in the rocks. After lunch we finally make our last trek to a conserved Incan place called Ñaupa Church and then return to Cusco.

Sacred Valley Tour in sharing group + 1 Nihgt Mabel Hotel Urubamba: $115 per person

The Mabey hotel  is based on sharing a room – either double, matrimonial or triple. There is a single room surcharge if you are booking alone of $30 US per person.
