Sacred Valley and Short Inca Trail to Machupicchu 3D/2N

DAY 1.-  VALLE SAGRADO – PISAC – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES (L)

After your breakfast in respective hotels, we will pick you up with our transport between 8:10 and 8:30 pm to head out through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will visit the Pisac ruins and its popular traditional arts and crafts market.  Later we continue our trip to Urubumba where we will have a delicious Buffet Lunch offering some International foods amongst many Peruvian dishes.  After lunch, we head to Ollantytambo where we will take a tour of the archeological complex there- an important place in past times and a attractive tourist stop now, with architecture that is unique in the Sacred Valley.  Later we take the train at the Ollantytambo train station heading to Aguas Calientes town where we will check-in to respective hotels.

DAY 2.- AGUAS CALIENTES – LLAQTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES (B) (L)

After breakfast provided in your hotel, we take the train around 6:30 a.m. for a one hour trip to Hydroelectric and later to the bus that transfers us to Lucmabamba, located at 2100 meters above sea level.  Here we will start our Inca Trail trek ascending to the summit of Llaqtapata, about a 3 hour hike, later descending until the Llaqtapata archeological complex where we will have a view of Machu Picchu.  Later, we continue on the path to Aobamba where we cross a river and will arrive to Hidroeléctrica where we take the return train to Aguas Calientes.  Throughout this short train ride, we will be able to see some Inca terraces alongside the rail line that play a very important role in the conservation of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. They were built as support for the skirts of the Machu Picchu and Huaynapicchu Mountains.  Reaching Aguas Calientes town, we can then head to our hotel for the second night.  There are optional hot springs on the outskirts of town, many tourist restaurants and a large market to be explored.

DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU-CUSCO (B)

After breakfast (provided in hotel) we will walk to teh bus station and take the roughly 30 minute trip up the mountain to the entrance of Machu Picchu’s Inca Citadel (2400 m.a.s.l.).  We will have opportunity to watch the sunrise and enjoy the presence of only few other tourists at this time.  The guided tour of the Citadel includes points of interest such as main plazas, living quarters, the Circular Tower, Solar Sun Dial, Temple of the Three Windows and cemeteries.  Afterwards there is free time to explore and take more photos before you catch a bus back down the mountain and then the return train and bus to Cusco.

Note:  There is option to hike Waynapicchu Mountain if it is booked ahead of time, as spaces are limited.

Discounts:

1. Students: Those who have the ISIC card valid, in the event that you book under a student rate with this benefit, you will need to bring the original card (not a copy) to show it at the control points throughout the route.
2. Children: Between 7 and 16 years (at the start of the Trek) pay the student rate, however they must show a copy of their passports.
3. Children under 6 years: They have a 30% discount.

This is a 3 star hotel and is based on sharing a room – either double, matrimonial or triple. There is a single room surcharge if you are booking alone of $30 US per person. Rooms all include private bathrooms with hot showers and wifi. We can also upgrade your hotel if you prefer something a little fancier. Please remember that the service you receive in Aguas Calientes will not be quite as good as Cusco. Below is a list of possible upgrade options, but we can work with most hotels in Aguas Calientes.
